Very Busy Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend seems to be the unofficial start to summer - of new endeavors and adventures.

In the northeast it's when many of us do our planting of vegetables, herbs, flowers, etc. This weekend was no exception. For the first time I was able to plant with our products in mind.

Lavender! We hadn't done this before so we bought plants and seeds. We didn't need a huge space (about 10' x 5' shown to the left). We tilled the "plot" and planted the lot (rhyme intended). The plants are in the middle and the seeds surround. Let's cross our fingers.

My hope is to use the lavender in our lavender/mint body polish. Also, this year I plan to add eye pillows to our product line and the dried lavender will do nicely in them. Stay tuned for the addition of that product.and for updates on the lavender plot.

A month or so ago we also acquired bees. I have been using local wax and honey in the products but I wanted to harvest my own and do my part in helping the bee population thrive. The beehive is located in our yard close to clover and other wild flowers as you can see in the photo to the right.

We are also proud and excited to note that customers may purchase our products in Clarence, NY at Barnwood Unlimited. Barnwood Unlimited is a unique store featuring furniture crafted from old barnwood and local artisans showcasing their wares. Wild Mountain Botanicals has shelf space. Wes and Michelle Bilotte are the proprietors. Wes is the brains and brawn behind the furniture (and it's stunning) and Michelle is the mastermind behind the local artisan showcase. They had a soft opening this past Saturday and open officially this Saturday. Stop by and take a look: 9992 Main Street in Clarence. If you are familiar with the area it's the old Frey's Furniture building. Now they occupy the space along with NAPA Auto Parts and the Hurt Locker gym.

Of course our display is contained in a unit constructed by Wes. The work the two of them do is quite extraordinary.

Thank you for supporting Wild Mountain Botanicals. We will continue to serve you with only the finest ingredients in our handcrafted products.
