What Am I Made Of?

So many people ask me what makes my products unique.  What sets Wild Mountain Organics

apart from other companies offering all

natural/organic body care products?

Wild Mountain Organics uses only the highest quality ingredients.  Our products – if scented – are scented with essential oils.  This ensures a natural scent.  Often people are taken aback by the scent of our products because they have never truly smelled some of the scents in their natural state.  For example, our lavender is quite aromatic, and some consider strong.  If you haven’t smelled a lavender plant, you may not have smelled a true lavender.  Once you try products scented with essential oils, you are spoiled.  It will be difficult for you to go back to a product that is scented with synthetic fragrances.

That said, there are some scents I will not or cannot put into products.  Some scents are not derived from essential oils.  They are made from synthetics.  I will never use synthetic scents in my products.  I make all of the products in my home.  I have standards – my home needs to smell wonderful and only essential oils will do!

Additionally, my products are preserved with natural preservatives such as vitamin E and grapeseed extract.  I don’t rely on chemicals as preservatives.  With this in mind, I tell people that the products have a shelf life.  As with products used in history, our products will degrade over time.  I have been able to keep products fresh for up to a year or more, but I like our customers to use products within six months to ensure the highest quality and freshness.

I test products on a select group of friends who are happy to be guinea pigs!  I also use everyone of my products.  I am quite selfish in this regard and would never use ingredients or formulations that might harm anyone.  Before the products hit the market for my valued customers, they meet with my approval and are continually used by me.

I use and endorse all of my products.  I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Enjoy!

Essential Oils

Essential oils are very powerful antioxidants. Essential oils are anti-bacterial, anti-cancerous, antifungal, anti-infectious, antimicrobial, anti-tumoral, anti-parasitic, anti-viral, and antiseptic.  Essential oils are aromatic. When diffused, they provide air purification. Essential oils also promote emotional, physical, and spiritual healing.

A word about our essential oils. I am often asked, "what essential oils do you use?"  I would like to say that I distill my own essential oils but I don't have the facilities for it nor do I have the plants I would need to do so. I buy the oils from a company on the west coast that produces high quality, organic essential oils. The oils are used in all of our products and are sold separately as Wild Mountain Botanicals.

History

Essential Oils were mankind’s first medicine. In Egypt, essential oils were used in the embalming process. Well preserved oils were found in alabaster jars in the tomb of King Tut. There are 188 references to essential oils in the Bible. Oils such as myrrh, frankincense, rosemary, hyssop, and spikenard were used for annointing and healing the sick.

Distillation

Essential oils are the volatile liquids that are distilled from plants (including their respective parts such as seeds, bark, leaves, stems, roots, flowers, fruits, etc.), usually through steam distillation. Fresh Floral Spritzes are a byproduct. Producing the purest oils can be very costly because it requires several hundred pounds, or even several thousand pounds of plant material to extract one pound of pure essential oil. For example, one pound of pure melissa oil sells for $9,000 to $15,000!

Properties

Essential oils are the regenerating, oxygenating, and immune defense properties of plants. Essential oils are so small in molecular size that they can quickly penetrate the tissues of the skin (the largest organ of absorption in the body). Essential oils are also lipid soluble making them capable of penetrating cell walls – even those hardened by oxygen deficiency. Essential oils can affect every cell of the body within 20 minutes and are then metabolized like other nutrients.

Scents

Wild Mountain Organics uses organic essential oils in its products. No synthetic fragrances are ever used. In addition to reaping the benefits of the specific properties of essential oils, the fragrance is also all natural, nourishing your body, mind, and spirit. Fresh Floral Spritzes, because they are a byproduct of the distillation process, also provide many of the same benefits as its essential oil. When choosing one of the products, please refer to the common properties below.

  • Birch – Increase awareness in the senses.

Sources of Flowers and Herbs

Many of my flowers and herbs are organically grown and lovingly hand collected locally. They are prepared and used immediately after harvest in such products as our Replenishing Face Cream, Skin Repair Cream and Facial Elixir or carefully dried for later use in products such as the Herbal Body Polish. All of the essential oils we use are natural plant based oils which carry with them remarkable healing capabilities and aromatic qualities.  Wild Mountain Organics uses local ingredients whenever possible.  Often our products are made from ingredients from local farmers who are small, but passionate like me.

Organic vs. Non-Organic

Most of my flowers and herbs are organically grown or wild crafted locally.  I support local small farms and harvest in the wild using careful environmental awareness so as not to damage the native stands or alter ecosystems. Some of my growers are not Certified Organic due to the cost and time of the lengthy process. By using organic ingredients as much as possible I support the sustainability of our environment as well as protect your body from harmful herbicides and pesticides. Plants which are grown organically carry micronutrients and minerals which nourish your body and provide building blocks for optimal health and vitality.

Use Discretion

Your skin is like a sponge which absorbs what is applied to it…….for example transdermal estrogen or nicotine patches. Take the challenge….. read the ingredient lists of your personal body care products now. If you would not ingest your body care products then we suggest you do not ingest them through your skin. Be smart and make the move to organic.

Salt vs. Sugar

The benefits of Salt as a body polish and exfoliant far surpasses that of sugar. Salt is:

  • Anti-inflammatory (excellent for sore joints and arthritis)

  • Antiseptic

  • Mineral rich

  • A stress Reducer (physical and emotional)

  • A detoxifier and much more

Sugar is an exfoliant, but it is highly refined and does not contain the therapeutic benefits salt has.  I also don’t like that it can be sticky.  It’s a personal choice as well as one that will benefit you, my customer.
